William Hittler Named Mentor of the Year by Page Education Foundation
William Hittler, a founding shareholder of Nilan Johnson Lewis and health care practice group attorney, has been bestowed with the "Mentor of the Year" award from the Minneapolis-based Page Education Foundation.
Hittler will receive the honor at a special Page Scholar award ceremony on June 10 at the Colin Powell Center in Minneapolis. The event will also feature addresses from Page Education Founder Alan Page, Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress and Page Scholar Abdul Omari.
The award celebrates exceptional work from individuals involved with the Page Education Foundation's senior mentor program, in which professionals counsel college students in their studies and life adjustments. Hittler has been involved with the program since 2008, providing mentoring to students from St. Ben's and St. Olaf College.
Founded by NFL Hall-of-Famer and Minnesota's first African-American Supreme Court Justice, Alan C. Page, the Page Education Foundation was created in 1988 to entice young people of color to positively influence younger children by offering mentoring and financial assistance for college in exchange for their volunteer service. Its purpose is to increase postsecondary education participation among Minnesota's youth of color (African American, American Indian, Asian American and Hispanic/Latino) by fostering positive attitudes about education among school-age children of color and by offering higher education financial assistance.
