Jacqueline Mrachek and Megan Kelley Discuss Prevailing Wage in the September Issue of The Federal Lawyer
Shareholder Jacqueline Mrachek and Associate Megan Kelley, from the Minneapolis law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis, bylined an article for the September edition of The Federal Lawyer, in the Labor and Employment Corner, titled “Nailing the Prevailing Wage.” The authors explain that as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which was expected to create employment through federal contracts, grants and loans, contractors are performing more work on publicly funded buildings and highway construction projects. The authors warn, “It is important for contractors and subcontractors to be aware of the strings attached to government funds.” The article, which can be read here, provides an overview of the prevailing wage requirements that accompany publicly funded projects, potential pitfalls, and consequences for violation of prevailing wage laws.
